Al-Nahda Center is a vibrant Islamic center located in the heart of Chicago, serving the spiritual, educational, and community needs of Muslims in the area. Dr. Abdulrahim Ahmad Al-Assaslah

Imam & Khateeb – Al-Nahda Center, Chicago
Dr. Abdulrahim Al-Assaslah was born in Jordan in 1963 where he received his early education. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Al-Zaytuna University in Tunisia in 1987, followed by a Master’s degree in 2008 and a Ph.D. in Islamic Jurisprudence and its Principles in 2015.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Al-Assaslah has held several prominent academic and religious leadership roles, including serving as Dean of the College of Sharia at Mutah University and acting as a senior religious advisor within Jordanian institutions. From 2018 to 2022, he worked with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, contributing to religious education and community outreach.

In 2023, Dr. Al-Assaslah began his role as Imam and Khateeb at Al-Nahda Center in Chicago, where he continues to offer guidance, sermons, and religious education to the local Muslim community.

Sheikh Suleiman Al-Rawafi

Sheikh Suleiman Al-Rawafi currently serves as the Imam and Friday Khateeb (preacher) at Al-Nahda Mosque, where he leads prayers, delivers sermons, and provides religious guidance to the Muslim community.
He studied Media with a specialization in Radio and Television at Qatar University and holds a Diploma in Diagnostic Radiology from the University of Science and Technology.
With over fifteen years of experience teaching Qur’an and Islamic sciences, Sheikh Suleiman has worked in various Qur’anic and religious education centers.
In the United States, he has served as a Qur’an and Islamic studies teacher at multiple Islamic schools and centers.
He has also held various positions and contributed to the efforts of numerous organizations and associations throughout the U.S. In addition, he serves as the Chairman of the Construction and Development Committee for Al-Nahda Islamic Center.
